A lot of crochet patterns that call for working in the round start out using a Magic Loop (or Magic Ring). I have a horrible memory and often have to look up a tutorial on the internet to remember how to make one. So I am now posting on my own blog a tutorial on how to make a Magic Loop so I will no longer have to hunt one down on someone else's blog. I hope it also helps you out. Add this page to your Bookmarks for future reference.
NOTE: I do not own these pictures. I was unable to take visible pictures of each step, so I borrowed some from the internet
Step 1: Leaving a 4" tail, make a loop with the yarn and hold it together where the yarn meets
Step 2: Still holding the yarn with your left hand, insert the crochet hook through the ring and draw the yarn up through the ring
Step 3: make a small loop on your crochet hook
Step 4: Yarn over and pull through the loop on the hook
Step 5:One loop on hook
Step 6: Insert the hook through the ring again and pull the yarn through. Two loops on hook
Step 7: Yarn over and draw through two loops on hook (Single crochet)
Step 8: Continue making SC until you have the number the pattern calls for
Step 9: Make sure that the SCs are made over the loop AND the tail.
Step 10: Pull the tail until the stitches meet (creating a round)
Step 11: Join the stitches with a slip stitch (sl st) and your foundation round is complete!!
I'm a divorced mother of two beautiful teen-age daughters. In my spare time I always enjoyed crafting and constantly searched for new projects (before Pinterest was even thought of). Many times I would find projects and tweak them to suit my purposes or my budget. It was always a dream of mine to make others happy with my creations so A few years ago I finally decided to start my own little business. But I lacked time and money to do so and it went neglected for quite a while. At this point and time I finally have the time to devote to a small business. And here it is! Head 2 Toe Custom Creations. One day I hope to expand it into a boutique store front. Til that time comes, it's all online!
